Where To Eat - San Luis Obispo

Here are some of our favorite places to eat in San Luis Obispo:

Table of Contents

Tacos de Acapulco

Coming from San Francisco, I’ve been spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. But Tacos de Acapulco really surprised me with one of the best Carne Asada burritos I’ve had in awhile! Full of flavor and packed with the right proportions of meat, beans, rice, sour cream, avocado, and salsa - I came back to get two burritos for the road on the trip back to San Francisco!

Brasserie SLO

Focusing on a wood fired oven and grill, some of the city’s best food is being served here.

We made sure to focus on grilled things and were surprised at how good everything was.

Favorites:

  • Grilled Spanish Octopus - tender, juicy and slightly imbued with a smokey wood flavor

  • Local Beets with Burrata - if you like gooey, milky cheese, this one is for you.

  • Champignon Pizza - one of the most delicious pizzas I’ve had in a while, the dough was perfectly made along with some of most delicious mushrooms and sweet onion.

  • Oak Roasted Chicken - bursting with flavor and so tender, I still can’t get over how delicious this was

Splash Cafe

Taste the famous clam chowder in a bread bowl, originally from Pismo Beach and now in SLO! Make sure to add toppings like bacon, green onions, and more seafood!

Scout Coffee

Roasting their own beans, this speciality coffee shop has the city’s best lattes, pour overs, and matcha drinks. On top of it, the interior is airy, light, and well designed.

Negranti Creamery

If you make the trip out to Paso Robles - definitely stop by Negranti Creamery for some of the most delicious ice cream in the Central Cali Coast!

Bliss Cafe

If you’re in the mood for delicious vegan, plant based food - Bliss Cafe is the place to be!

They offer vibrant breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices along with smoothies and juices.

We loved the Baja Chipotle, Plant Power Burger, Tropical Bliss, and Rejuvenate Juice.

Farmers Market

Grab some bites at the Thursday night Farmers Market! The whole town shows up along with many local farmers, food carts, and restaurants.

Firestone Grill

One of the most popular restaurants in SLO, you have to get the tri-tip sandwich - it’s juicy and full of flavor!

Cake at Madonna Inn

Have a crazy slice of pink cake in even crazier surroundings at Madonna Inn! Make sure to stop by the mens or women’s bathrooms - they have been called the best bathrooms on the West Coast!

Linnaeas

A local favorite, there’s always a constant stream of people lining up for breakfast and lunch here! For good reason too - the carrot cake, rosemary shortbread with sea salt, macarons, breakfast burritos, chai, and lattes are really fantastic!
